Phil Cusumano is a United States Coast Guard licensed Master with
a 100 ton near-Coastal (out to 200 miles offshore) Merchant Mariner
Credential 2564493.
Concurrent to owning his own delivery service, Phil captained aboard the
"Whole Life", a 60-ft. Offshore M/V, hailing port Boston, the "Privateer IV", a
triple-screw 110-ft. tour and charter, the "Privateer I", a 95-ft. custom charter,
hail-port Seven Seas, Gloucester, MA, the "Sea Song III", a 48-ft. Carver
Motor Yacht hailing Gloucester Harbor, MA.
Over the past 4 decades, Captain Phil has been delivering privately-owned
and commercial vessels up and down the U.S. east coast, vessels such as
the 76-ft. Hatteras Motor Yacht and the 75-ft. Viking Motor Yacht.
In addition to founding "On The Water Training", Captain Phil was founder of
"North Star Yacht Deliveries, Inc.", a state-of-the-art vessel delivery and
teaching service. The delivery service specialized in the transport of large and
small yachts, power and sail. The teaching service was designed to the
specific individual(s) training for a safe and pleasurable boater operation.
With boats ranging from 35 ft. to 150 ft., Captain Phil has traveled from New
England to the Florida Keys, Great Lakes, St. Lawrence Seaway (Thousand
Island area), Welland Canal, New York Canal System, as well as the Hudson
River from Lake Champlain to the New York Harbor.
Captain Phil recruits other captains and crew with professional experience to
assist him on deliveries and acts as a guide/instructor to those requiring
additional hands-on experience. In addition, Captain Phil teaches one-on-one
classes to anyone wishing to learn basic seamanship; docking, close quarter
maneuvering, trip planning, rules of the road, coastal-navigation, and so on.
Born and raised in Gloucester, MA, Captain Phil has had a lifelong love affair
for the ocean. His father owned and operated commercial fishing vessels in
Gloucester for 50 years. At the early age of 13, Phil started commercial fishing
off the "Grand Banks" during summer vacations with his father. Upon high
school graduation, for 19 years, he captained several of his dad's boats such
as the "Acme", a 73-ft., 28-ft. beam, 13.5-ft. draft commercial dragger.
Captain Phil adds to his achievements a talent as a marine artist. His works
have been bought and displayed in the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem,
MA and throughout the United States.
Captain Phil is a non-smoker and nondrinker and you can always count on
him being fully capable when taking charge of your boat. He looks forward to
